SHARE OUR SUZY HONORS BREAST CANCER PATIENT’S LEGACY WITH 13TH ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY PARTY
Bands, Food and Fun on Tap for May 27 Fundraiser
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Wear pink this Memorial Day instead of white by coming out to support local breast cancer survivors and their families at the 13th Annual Share Our Suzy “Fun-raiser” at the Grove at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, May 27 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Share Our Suzy (SOS) is a charity that works with Lowcountry hospital breast health navigators – and directly with patients – to help fund day-to-day expenses that are not covered by health insurance. This year, the event will feature live music by Guilt Ridden Troubadour, Five Way Friday, and after a 12-year hiatus, The Connells.
Tickets are $50 in advance and $65 the day of, with a $100 “Friends of Suzy” VIP option offering access to private lounges, premium beverages and preferred seating. All tickets include local food and adult beverages, and can be purchased online or by calling 843-410-7970. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the event will directly benefit breast cancer patients here in the Lowcountry.
So who was Suzy? In 1996, at the age of 28, Suzy McGrane was diagnosed with breast cancer. When her own cancer went into remission, Suzy hosted fundraisers for other breast cancer patients to assist with their utility bills, medical bills and childcare. McGrane’s cancer would eventually take her life in 2005, and friends and family created Share Our Suzy to continue her good work.
To date, SOS has raised more than $250,000 to support patients here in South Carolina.
